AP&S Shareholder David A. Wollin has achieved significant results for his clients in complex civil litigation, from the trial court through the appeal.  Listed in Best Lawyers in America® and Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, he litigates a wide variety of matters, including commercial, products liability, environmental, toxic tort and intellectual property cases.  His substantial track record includes securing dismissal of securities and products liability cases and obtaining one of the largest jury verdicts in Rhode Island in a commission dispute.  

Co-author of a leading treatise on civil and appellate procedure, Mr. Wollin has represented public traded and private companies in national and regional litigation in federal and state courts in multiple jurisdictions.  He has also appeared as lead counsel in federal and state appellate cases.  He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel and an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Wollin received his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law, where he was Dean’s Cup Moot Court Champion and Senior Editor of Law and Contemporary Problems.  After law school, he served as a law clerk to Judge Danny J. Boggs of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and Judge James F. Couch, Jr. of the Maryland Court of Appeals.

Mr. Wollin has served as an adjunct professor at the Roger Williams University School of Law and frequently lectures and writes on civil and appellate procedure and courtroom technologies.  He currently serves as a member of the Rhode Island Board of Bar Examiners and various bar committees.

  • Successfully defended major product manufacturers and distributors in personal injury and product liability actions.
  • Defended multinational and regional companies in environmental and toxic tort matters.
  • Successfully represented major businesses in fraud, contract and stockholder actions.
  • Represented a former lead paint pigment manufacturer in a multi-billion dollar public nuisance action.
  • Negotiated large tax abatements for in-state manufacturers and other businesses.
