Six New Lawyers Join AP&S
Already one of the largest law firms in Rhode Island, AP&S is becoming even bigger. On May 19, 2008, AP&S welcomes six lawyers to its Providence office, bringing the firm wide number of attorneys to 70.
New at the firm are Richard A. Licht, Joseph DeAngelis, Susan Leach DeBlasio, David T. Riedel, Lori Caron Silveira and Alison Albanese. Each had been with the firm of Tillinghast Licht LLP.
"This is a high caliber group of lawyers who are accomplished and well respected," said Mark O. Denehy, Esq., managing partner of AP&S. "Their addition will help us to provide expanded and enhanced services to our clients."
With highly complementary areas of practice and expertise that these lawyers bring to the existing practices at AP&S, it greatly increases the firm’s capabilities in several areas, including Governmental Relations, Trusts & Estates, Labor & Employment, Corporate Law, Healthcare, Real Estate and Environmental Law.
Richard A. Licht practices extensively in the areas of corporate, real estate and government relations law. He has successfully represented a number of clients whose cases resulted in landmark court decisions, as well as representing clients in the acquisition, merger and disposition of major real estate investment properties. Mr. Licht served as Lt. Governor of the State of Rhode Island from 1985-1989 and a former member of the Rhode Island State Senate.
Joseph DeAngelis is involved in all aspects of regulatory permitting and litigation. Particularly, he has extensive experience in coastal development, together with all types of real estate development, and represents clients before regulatory agencies. He served as Majority Leader and Speaker of the Rhode Island House of Representatives.
Susan Leach DeBlasio provides business planning counsel and assists clients in all phases of corporate governance and compliance. Her practice includes corporate acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, succession planning, consulting agreements, confidentiality and trade secret agreements and structuring corporate financing. She also advises medical professionals and health care institutions on many aspects of business, corporate and healthcare law.
David T. Riedel concentrates his practice in the areas of personal estate and financial planning for individuals as well as in the administration of estates and trusts. He literally wrote the book on "Wills, Trusts and Gifts," which analyzes Rhode Island cases and statutes as they relate to the book’s title areas. He is presently working on a companion volume on estate administration in Rhode Island.
Lori Carol Silveira focuses her practice on labor and employment law. She is skilled in all phases of litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution in state and Federal courts and administrative agencies, at both the trial and appellate level. During her career, she has represented clients in numerous precedent-setting cases in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Alison L. Albanese provides support to both the Real Estate practice group and the Public Finance and Tax areas. As an associate, Ms. Albanese has represented a major nonprofit organization in the purchase and renovation of a new location. She also participated in a $7 million land transaction involving conservation easements, zoning and major tax issues.
