Hamza Chaudary was appointed by the First Circuit Court of Appeals to the Merit Selection Panel to assist with the selection of the next U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge in Rhode Island.
Following the announcement of the retirement of U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Diane Finkle, the Chief Justice of the First Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge David J. Barron, announced the formation of a Bankruptcy Merit Selection Panel to screen and review applicants for the position. The Merit Selection Panel will recommend to the Circuit Council and the Court of Appeals candidates whose character, experience and commitment to the equal justice under the law qualify them to serve as U.S. Bankruptcy Judges.
Others members of the panel include, Court of Appeals Judge Lara E. Montecalvo who will serve as Chair; Judge O. Rogeriee Thompson; U.S. District Chief Judge John J. McConnell Jr.; Lynda L. Laing, Strauss, Factor, Laing & Lyons; Thomas P. Quinn, McLaughlin Quinn; John Rao, National Consumer Law Center; Michael Zebelin, Rhode Island Legal Services; and Susan J. Goldberg, Circuit Executive.
