Overview

Todd focuses on assisting clients in the Ocean Tech, Blue Tech, and Climate Tech industries. He combines experience with issues related to coastal development, environmental and renewable energy matters, maritime law, and corporate, intellectual property, and commercial disputes to support the needs of businesses on the cutting edge of Rhode Island’s Blue Economy.

Before joining AP&S, Todd interned with Judge Brian Stern of the Rhode Island Superior Court Business Calendar and in the offshore energy industry. He has written extensively on legal issues related to offshore wind, maritime law, and jurisdiction on the Outer Continental Shelf. He has also written about and presented on sustainable finance and ESG issues.

During law school, Todd served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Roger Williams University Law Review and was a Sea Grant Law Fellow for the Marine Affairs Institute.

Todd also has an M.B.A. and over a decade of experience in banking and corporate finance.

Experience

  • Represented a client in the administrative appeal of a R.I. DEM permitting dispute.
  • Assisted in representing a coastal project developer in an administrative appeal of the decision granting the developer’s application.
  • Assisted a client with R.I. DEM approval process for the redevelopment of waterfront property.
  • Represented a property developer in a construction dispute related to development of coastal property.
  • Advised a client on renewable energy tax credit programs.
  • Represented various clients with intellectual property disputes including patent infringement and trade dress claims.
  • Represented business owners in shareholder and management disputes including direct and derivative actions for breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract.
  • Assisted in the representation of a national bank in various disputes.
