Nicole J. Benjamin, Erica Mecler Caron and John D. Russell have been appointed to Counsel.
Nicole’s practice encompasses a broad range of civil cases in federal and state court, with an emphasis on complex commercial litigation. She also handles a wide variety of appellate matters utilizing her previous experience as lead law clerk to the Honorable Frank J. Williams during his tenure as Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court. She is also the author of the blog Fast Five on Rhode Island Appellate Practice, which provides periodic updates on Rhode Island appellate law and pointers for practice before the Rhode Island Supreme Court.
Erica’s practice focuses on general litigation, insurance defense, construction law cases and premises liability matters for her varied Boston area clients. Erica represents clients in a variety of industries including national property management companies, equipment and product manufacturers and insurance companies. She also advises clients on risk management and mitigation. Prior to joining AP&S she worked for the law firm Friedman & Atherton, LLP.
John’s varied practice includes representing wide-range clients in corporate and business law matters, commercial real estate transactions, land use and zoning issues, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial public finance and tax law. John earned his L.L.M. in tax law at Boston University School of Law and studied abroad at the U.K. Inns of Court School of Law with additional study at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.
