AP&S Attorneys to Speak at R.I. Bar Association’s 2011 Annual Meeting

Susan Leach DeBlasio will be conducting a seminar entitled “Representing the Rhode Island Business Entity: Ethical Considerations” on Friday, June 17, 2011, from 9:00am – 10:15am. This seminar addresses ethical considerations when providing legal representation to a business entity in connection with its formation and its continuing operations, whether a corporation, limited liability company, partnership, limited partnership, or other form of business enterprise.  

Joseph Marion will be moderating 2 seminars on Thursday, June 16th.  The first seminar entitled, “2011 Rhode Island Estate Planning and Elder Law: A Review of New Federal and State Estate Tax and Medicaid Qualification Changes”.  This discussion covers the new Federal Estate and Gift Tax changes passed by Congress on December 17, 2010, and the likelihood of implementation of an increased Rhode Island Estate Tax exemption based on the Ocean State Policy Research Council report Leaving Rhode Island. This seminar is from 10:45am -12:00pm. The second seminar, titled “Intellectual Property Aspects of Organizing and Growing a Rhode Island Business”, covers Intellectual Property with business law issues, including how to build and maintain IP positions, perfection and enforcement of rights, defense perspective and financing development of technology and IP through private and government sources. This seminar is from 1:30pm – 2:45pm.

David Riedel will be speaking at a seminar entitled, “Dealing with CPA’s – Estate Planning” on Friday, June 17th from 2:45pm – 4:00pm.  This seminar shows how young attorneys do not always understand and appreciate estate planning options available to their clients.  CPAs bring knowledge and experience in life insurance plans and reverse mortgages, providing examples to assist young lawyers in meeting their clients’ goals.
