Geoff Millsom was quoted as an expert in a check fraud case in the December 9, 2022, issue of a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s article regarding a counterfeit check scam at a Boston law firm. Geoff explains that banks are required to make the proceeds of deposited checks immediately available to customers, but customers are liable for dishonored (or fraudulent) checks. So, bank customers should always wait two weeks after depositing a check before disbursing the proceeds.
