Victoria Almeida Is President-Elect of RI Bar

Victoria M. Almeida, shareholder, will become the President of the Rhode Island Bar Association in 2009. As President-Elect from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009, she will be preparing for her leadership role as head of the 6,000-member organization. Vicky was first elected as an officer in 2005 when she became Treasurer. She has been a member of the Executive Committee for the past few years, having also served as Secretary and Vice President. Most recently, Vicky led the Strategic Planning Committee of the R.I. Bar which, following a 3-year process, resulted in the adoption of a Strategic Plan, Mission Statement and Goals. She is a member of the House of Delegates of the Bar and also is on the Bar Journal Editorial Board. In the past she has served as chair of the Bar’s Ethics and Professionalism Committee, Public Relations and Centennial Committees. She is a lifetime fellow of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation, and she received the Dorothy Lohmann Community Service Award for her work on behalf of the disabled community. Miss Almeida participates in a number of professional organizations, including the Defense Research Institute, the Rhode Island Defense Counsel, the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the Rhode Island Parole Board. She is actively involved in the community and serves as Vice Chair of the Rhode Island Health Services Council.

Vicky is a member of the Litigation, Labor and Employment Law, Government Relations, Healthcare Law, and Higher Education practice groups.
