Victoria Almeida Re-Appointed to R.I. State Parole Board

Victoria Almeida has been re-appointed as a member of the R.I. State Parole Board by Governor Carcieri. The R.I. Senate unanimously confirmed the appointment on March 30, 2006.

The Rhode Island State Parole Board is authorized by a statute to consider early release of incarcerated offenders who have been sentenced to be imprisoned for a period of more than six months and who have served not less than one-third of the term for which they have been sentenced.  Using structured decision-making, the Parole Board has broad discretion to determine when and if an offender will be released from imprisonment.  It also has the authority to establish conditions of release and to tailor those conditions to appropriately manage the offender’s transition back to the community through proper parole supervision.
